Indian Premier League 2021 is suspended
The 14th edition of the IPL2021 has been suspended due to the detection of two more Covid-19 positive cases -- Amit Mishra from Delhi Capitals and Wriddhiman Saha from Sunrisers Hyderabad -- emerged on Tuesday.
Kolkata Knight Riders players named Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier had tested Covid positive reports on Monday.
IPL 2021 Suspended :
Due to this, the BCCI had suspended the 30th game between KKR and Royal Challengers Bangalore. And the ground staff of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and coach L Balaji's got covid-positive makes CSK squad into quarantine too. On Tuesday, BCCI officials had confirmed that due to the covid 19 case in the CSK camp the match reschedules the game between Chennai and Rajasthan Royals too. And after few hours, Wridhimaan Saha and Amit Mishra also got Covid positive, and then they force the board to suspend the IPL league.
Adam Zampa, Liam Livingstone, Kane Richardson, and Andrew Tye -- are already decided to withdraw from the league citing Covid 19 risk and the threat of being locked out without returning to their own countries due to travel restrictions, and several other players also expressed their apprehensions.
On this Tuesday, BCCI had then released a statement securing the foreign players of safe return to their homes after the IPL league. The things, however, very soon went out of control with several players testing positive for the virus.
The BCCI crew does not want to compromise on the safety of the IPL players, support staff, and the other players or participants involved in the organizing of the IPL. The IPL postponement is a decision was taken by considering the safety, health, and well-being of all the stakeholders in mind. The BCCI using its power to arrange the safe and secure passage of all the participants in IPL 2021.
The BCCI like to thank all the state associations, healthcare workers, players, franchisees, support staff, partners, sponsors, and all the service providers who have tried their best to organize IPL 2021 even in these extremely difficult times.
On 5/5/2021 Wednesday, The BCCI official will confirm the board's plan that to take the entire IPL league to Mumbai for the remaining matches could be held at the Wankhede. The changes were still in process and the planning stage, and if there are more positive cases are registered then the only option left the board with little option but to suspend the league.
IPL 2021 suspended after a string of Covid-19 positive cases to Players:
- On Monday, two Kolkata team players and the support staff in the Chennai CSK camp had tested positive for the covid virus.
- On Tuesday, Sunrisers wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha and Delhi Capitals bowler Amit Mishra got positive test reports.
- IPL 2021 has been suspended due to an increase in the string of Covid-19 positive results over on Monday and Tuesday.
